Bright Yellow Daffodils and Green Leeks Herald Spring In Wales
March the first is a day of celebration across Wales. Bright dragons, yellow daffodils and green leeks all are celebrated from Cardiff in the south to Llandudno in the north. A day when Welsh voices join to sing the Welsh national anthem Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau (Land Of My Fathers) with pride.
It is of course Saint David’s Day. Wales’s patron saint was canonised nearly 900 years ago. Dewi Sant, as he’s known in Wales, is said to have been a well travelled man and it is thought he made it all the way to the Holy Land where he became archbishop in Jerusalem.
We do know that he formed a religious community in Pembrokeshire close to what is now the UK’s smallest city, St David’s. You can celebrate everything Welsh with this wonderful mug from GalaxyXtra available at: https://www.galaxyxtra.com/wales.html
